It can be so difficult attaining a business organisation routine and system. Sometimes the workflow and duties of a business owner can start weighing you down and can become overwhelming. Trying to balance your main duty (i.e. your service) with accounting, emailing, marketing and social media can sometimes feel impossible – especially if you are a one woman show with a tight budget and are just starting out.
Nevertheless, that doesn’t stop you from building your empire and becoming a fearless girl boss. Everyone has to start from somewhere, right? If you are working at your dining room table, your bedroom, your garage or your local coffee shop, you need to have a look at these tips that can transform your way of working.
First things first, you need a tidy and inspirational space to work in, in order to improve your productivity and business organisation. Nothing screams procrastination more than a super messy desk. Trust me, as soon as you start avoiding your workspace, you know you need to sort it out. Besides, this is where you are spending most of your time. If you are a creative like me, fill your workspace with inspirational items and beautiful aesthetics so you will actually want to spend your time there and it will boost your productivity and creativity.
The great thing is, that no matter where you are working from you can always (very inexpensively) transform your space. I personally love to endlessly scroll through Pinterest and grab loads of ideas. #OfficeGoals
Simply add some faux/real plants or flowers, buy some cute and matching stationery, create a gallery wall or put some pictures, quotes or graphics in frames on your desk. Whatever inspires you, make sure to add it to your work space and watch your productivity soar.
As an organiser enthusiast, having a planner to write down daily schedules and to do lists are extremely necessary! Every business owner should have some sort of planner, and being a girl boss means that having a gorgeous planner makes it exciting to use.
I love using my A5 Filofax as I can switch around the format of my planner whenever and however I want. This is such an affordable and flexible option for my fellow female entrepreneurs on a budget. Planner printables are available to buy on Etsy (link to my store here) and are perfect for staying productive throughout the year.
Alternatively, buying a planner is the easiest option. There is nothing more exciting than buying a new planner for the year ahead! Just me? Obviously, there are so many wonderful planners out there but I have created the perfect planner especially designed for female entrepreneurs to help boost productivity and business organisation. Inclusive of a weekly agenda page, to do list, top 3 goals of the week & reward, call & email section, important dates calendar and notes page all beautifully presented with a gold foiled quote on the cover. So keeping track of your finances might be one of the most tedious duties that business owners have to undertake, unless you have hired someone else to do it. But when starting your business, usually the task falls on you and at times it can get very confusing especially if you aren’t a maths genius, like me.
But have no fear, a free financial online software is here! WaveApps is the perfect financial companion for any entrepreneur. Create and manage your quotes, invoices and statements, track your expenses, accept payments and transfer to your bank. Everything to help you maintain your business organisation.
If you have a blog or post on social media, it is so worth planning out your content in advance. Not only does this save you time by creating a batch of content in one sitting, but also helps keep you consistent. Even if you are on holiday or your laptop dies (touch wood!) if you plan your content and have it scheduled to upload at your regular day and time, it saves a lot of stress and worry.
Unfortunately, Wix does not have a blog scheduling feature at the moment, but writing your blog posts 1-2 weeks in advance is a game changer!
Luckily Facebook has a feature where you can schedule content in advance and what a life saver it is!
Pinterest also has a scheduling feature, which I have only just noticed hiding at the bottom of the pin builder. But you can only schedule pins that you are uploading – not repinning. Alternatively, Tailwind will be your friend if you are willing to pay the fee.
*trumpet announcement music here* Behold the free Instagram scheduler app, Planoly.
This is by far my fave free app for planning and scheduling posts and stories on Instagram. It is so easy to use and you can design the layout of your feed, write the caption & hashtags and schedule to automatically post to your Instagram.
If planning with pen and paper isn’t your thing or if you would benefit from having a virtual checklist for your projects, then using a project management app like Trello or Asana is perfect!
You can create different boards/projects and start writing up your lists. You can also set due dates, share with other contributors and lots more! The best thing about a project management app is that everything is easily amendable and you can keep track on where you are and what to do next.
I hope you found these tips useful and I wish you wonderful and productive year!
